Follow Broadgate Road through Grasmere turning L onto Easedale Road and L onto a bridleway at a sharp R bend in the road. Follow the bridleway across Easedale Beck and up onto the fell. Climb up beside Sourmilk Gill, bearing L around the southern shore of Easedale Tarn. Continue to ascend between Eagle Crag and Belles Knott to a path junction, turn R and head north-west over Sergeant Man to the trig point and shelter on High Raise (4.5 miles/7.3km). Turn slightly R and return to the path running north past Low White Stones to a path junction on Greenup Edge. Turn R following the bridleway east downhill over a low col and then down across Grasmere Common and beside Far Easedale Gill to intersect Easedale Road, following this back to Grasmere.
