Pick up the Rhyd-Ddu path out of the village heading roughly east up onto the open mountainside on the east face of Snowdon. Follow the path as it trends slightly L to join the ridge above Llechog. Turn R and follow the path along the ridge and L up Bwlch Main, joining the Watkin path just before the summit of Snowdon at 1085 metres (3.6 miles/5.8km). Pass the summit and join the main Llanberis path down to the finger stone at the junction with the PYG and Miner’s tracks to the R, the Llanberis path in front and the Ranger path to your L. Turn L and follow the Ranger path along the ridge above Clogwyn Du’r Arddu and down to the flatter ground north of Llyn Ffynnon-y-gwas. Stay L on the Ranger path to a junction at SH 575553 (6.5 miles/10.5km). Turn L here, leaving the Ranger path and running along a fantastic trail across moorland and through an old quarry back to the start.
