Start/Finish: Wanlockhead village, ML12 6UZ
Follow the Southern Upland Way south-east out of the village, and up around Stake Hill and Whiteside to the top of Lowther Hill at 725 metres (2 miles/3.3km). Turn L and, leaving the Southern Upland Way, take the track north-east towards the masts and trig point at 732 metres on Green Lowther. Continue over Dungrain Law at 669 metres to Dun Law at 677 metres (4.7 miles/7.5km). Turn L and follow the ridge through a col and up to Glen Ea’s Hill at 549 metres. Bearing R, descend to the track, turning R onto this and following it around to the L and down to the B7040 (6.9 miles/11.1km). Cross the road and turn L onto a track that tracks the road south-west, crossing again at NS 895149 and continuing around the golf course and past the steam train station near Leadhills. Continue south-west, parallel to the railway and the B797 past Glengonnar Station, and then turn R across the road and back to the start.
