Silver Sands of Morar
Distance: 5.5 miles (8.5km)
Ascent: 86 metres
Start/Finish: Morar beach car park, PH39 4NT
This run traces the coast at the high-water mark; at the lowest tide there is only one section of scrambling to be done, but at high tide most of the rocky headlands will need to be scrambled over. You can avoid some scrambles by getting wet feet or even swimming, but this is an adventurous 5½ miles.
Head north-east out of the car park and down to Morar beach. Turn L and follow the sands out through Morar Bay to the Sound of Sleet. Turn L along the coast south-west below Beinn an Achaidh Mhoir, along Camusdarach beach and south past several headlands and smaller beaches to Camas Rubha a’ Mhurain where you can turn L inland to the road near Traigh House. Turn L onto the road and follow it back to the start.
