Follow the path south-west from the layby, roughly following the River Coupall up the Lairig Gartain between Buachaille Etive Beag to the north and Buachaille Etive Mor to the south. Reach the col at 489 metres and descend the Allt Gartain trail to a path junction just north of the road at NN 172516 (3.8 miles/6.1km). Turn R and follow the valley north along the Lairig Eilde trail, bearing R down the Allt Lairig trail. Trend R back to the A82 by a cairn and layby at NN 187562 (7.1 miles/11.4km). Turn R onto the road, to the next parking area where you can bear L on a track that runs parallel to, but a bit further away from, the road. Follow this to just past the start and take a sharp R to cut back to the road and the start.
