Turn R out of the ferry terminal and follow the A841 to the southern end of the beach. Turn R onto a path running just inland of the beach and then meeting the A841. Turn R onto this and follow it north to a L turn onto a track at Cladach, going past the castle and uphill north-west through Cnocan Wood and onto the mountainside. Continue uphill to the ridge and cairn at 607 metres. Turn L here and follow the ridge to the trig point at 874 metres on Goatfell (5 miles/8.1km). Descend the ridge north of the summit to North Goatfell at NR 989423 (5.5 miles/8.9km) where the ridge splits. Take the L fork heading down to the Saddle at NR 978430. Turn L and run down the stream into Glen Rosa, following Glenrosa Water south into Brodick and back to the start.
