Split into 12 sections of between 3 and 17 miles each, the Hebridean Way makes an outstanding 2-week fastpacking adventure and is the first dedicated, waymarked pedestrian route across the archipelago. It runs across 10 Hebridean islands, starting at Vatersay in the south and crossing Barra, Eriskay, South Uist, Benbecula, Grimsay, North Uist, Berneray and Harris, before finishing on Lewis in the north. The islands are linked by 6 causeways and 2 ferry rides. Full details, including logistics for planning travel and accommodation for the trip, can be found at Visit Outer Herbrides. There are also several dedicated guidebooks for exploring the Hebridean Way both on foot and by bike.
