Take the path by the A354 onto Portland but stay R on the coast path. Climb uphill at the southern end of Chesil Cove and leave the coast path to cross New Road towards the eastern coast. Join the footpath north-east joining Verne Hill Road then turn L onto Glacis road which becomes the South West Coast Path. Follow the path south to Portland Bill (7.3 miles/11.8km). Now stay on the coast path north up the western coast until you join the outbound path above Chesil Cove. Turn L and retrace your steps to the start.
