Leave the car park and cross the dam following the lakeside path clockwise around Bewl Water. The path, initially also the Sussex Border Path, stays close to the shore until midway along the southern edge on the promontory near Borders Farm at TQ 679318 (7.3 miles/11.8km). Leave the lake shore and follow Lower Hazelhurst Road south, continuing in the same direction onto Burnt Lodge Lane and turning R onto a footpath at 8 miles/13km. Follow this across a field and join Birchetts Green Lane until you can turn R towards Chesson’s Farm (9.5 miles/15.3km). Follow this track east past the farm to regain the shore of Bewl Water. Turn L and follow the shore path all the way back to the start.
