Freya Active Running Short RRP £18

Freya have been around since the 90s, pioneering great lingerie and active wear. The design of their excellent sports bras has its base firmly in the latest research, and Freya have been working with the University of Portsmouth breast health team to perfect the fit and function of their range.

These good-looking shorts are a recent addition to the Freya Active range and a perfect choice for summer running. They’re super lightweight and very comfortable, in soft, stretchy yet durable polyamide-mix fabric. They’re also treated with Polygiene antibacterial technology to banish any nasty odours.

I’ve been wearing them to run in the recent warm weather and they’ve performed well, staying put and keeping me cool and comfortable. For me one of the best bits is the wide, elasticated, foldable waistband: it makes for a great fit that gently hugs your waist, without the need for lumpy tie cords or fastenings. You can fold the band down too, for a bit of extra breathability and a different look. They come in two funky colourways: ultra violet or olympic blue.

The simple design that focuses on comfort, performance and great looks does mean these shorts don’t come with any pockets, but they’re perfect as a race or gym short or when you’re wearing a waist pack and don’t want anything getting in the way.

Verdict: Great-looking, comfortable and high-performing running shorts that I’ll be wearing for running and racing throughout the summer.
