A fantastic run taking in a great stretch of the historic Wall path, before winding over open commons and splashing through babbling Caw Burn. Pass the fantastic organic farm and B&B at Gibbs Hill before looping stunning Greenlee Lough, returning on the Pennine Way and then Hadrian’s Wall path. From the car park run W along Hadrian’s Wall, turning R at milecastle 41 to follow path across Melkridge Common. Ford Caw Burn and continue on path N until reaching obvious junction. Head E to Gibbs Hill and then NE, running clockwise along the edge of the plantation around Greenlee Lough NNR. On reaching the Pennine Way, head S to the Hadrian’s Wall Path, finally W to the car park. Please avoid the Wall Path in wet weather to minimize erosion.

3.6 5.9 At track junction turn left and head north east across moorland and then along edge of plantation to the north of Greenlee Lough
6.2 10.0 Turn right onto Pennine Way and head south to reach Hadrian’s Wall
7.7 12.4 Turn right and follow Hadrian’s Wall path back to start
