From the car park follow the main path south-west, bearing R up to the ridge and over The Beacon. Continue along the ridge over Dove Crag and then to Simonside at 430 metres. Run down the other side along the path heading west through woodland and out onto the Simonside Hills beyond. Turn L onto high ground over Tosson Hill to reach a path junction below Whitfield Hill. Turn L, following the bridleway south-east through Harwood Forest to a junction at Fallowlees on the south-eastern edge of the wood. Turn L again onto St Oswald’s Way, following this north through woodland then bearing R over moorland back to the start.
